How To Tone Your Midsection And Drop Unwanted Weight

By Russ Howe

With everybody trying to search for instant fitness results, it's little surprise that one of the most popular searches on Youtube is 'how to get a six pack in 3 minutes'. However, not everything is too good to be true. Today you'll learn how to lose weight and develop your abdominal muscles quickly with five basic, proven diet principles.

Before you begin it is important to set a realistic goal here. If you have a lot of unwanted weight to drop then it wouldn't be sensible to set yourself, say, a two week target to achieve your goal. Of course, that is merely common sense. However, the techniques taught to you today will enable quick progress from where you are now to where you'd like to be in just a few short months' time. []

You may have heard the following expression. Abs are developed in the kitchen not in the gym. In order to see the fruits of your hard efforts in the gym you will need to adhere to a few 'rules' with regards to your daily diet. Are you ready?

1. Work to a calorie deficit.

2. Get your protein, carbohydrate and fat intake in check.

3. Use food as a reward.

4. Drink water regularly.

5. Take advantage of the fat loss benefits offered by high intensity interval training.

Let's begin with a calorie deficit. This basically means eating less than you do at the moment. Most people lie to themselves about how much food they eat during the course of an average day, so in order to work this out properly it would be wise to record a food diary over three days. Then simply operate on slightly less calories from now on.

The second thing we must do is get the right split between the three macronutrients. This means your intake of carbohydrates, protein and fats. A proven method for doing this is to allow 40% of your calories to come from both protein and carbs, and the remaining 20% devoted to fats.

The biggest mistake a lot of individuals make when they are trying to shed unwanted pounds is to stop eating all of their favorite foods. Use your favorite 'cheat foods' as a rewards scheme. If you don't take any days off and you stop eating everything you enjoy, you'll probably come off the rails after just a couple of weeks and all your hard efforts in the gym will be worthless. Don't be afraid to have a day off and take in some unhealthy foods, it it helps you stick to your diet long-term then it's a great thing!

One of the most overlooked aspects of a good eating plan is water intake. If you do not drink enough water you do not get the multiple benefits it provides. You should be aiming for around 8 glasses per day, more if you are regularly exercising. []

Rule five is the final point because it needs a little bit of explaining. Rather than spending hours in the gym pounding on the treadmill, bored out of you mind, try using high intensity interval training. Not only are the fat burning benefits far better than regular cardiovascular exercise, your workouts will become far more fun too.

You don't even need a gym in most cases. Here's a quick example:

* Full Leg Raises.

* Sit-Ups.

* Max Plank.

Perform all three moves for 45 seconds without rest, then take a one minute break and begin round two. If you can do three rounds here that's only a 7:30 total time yet the intensity of the workout will provide you with excellent results.

So, before you stress about how to lose weight or spend money on products which claim to yield miracle results, take some time to apply the strategies you have picked up today. Sure, it might not be able to show you how to get a six pack in 3 minutes but then again, you want something which actually works, don't you?
