By Nancy Gardner

Many women will concur that professional hair care is very expensive. The frequency of visiting the salon depends on the income level of a person. Those who can afford it go for these services regularly but for the rest, salon hair care is sought only when the occasion is special. For the women with long hair, the rates are high than the normal ones and natural relaxers for black hair can save the day without having to spend much.

Making your own hair relaxer at home will save you a considerable amount which could have been spent in the salon. Nevertheless, you should make sure you adopt a safe technique in doing this to avoid injury to your scalp and damage to your mane. The most common natural kind of relaxers is the coconut milk and also lime. Creating the recipe of these products is quite exciting.

It is the wish of every black woman to have straight hairs at some point in life. Some may be just curious to have the experience while for some it may be the desire to take the kinks off the hairs leaving it with beautiful waves and a soft texture.

Chemical relaxers have been associated with many demerits and sometimes can even leave you bald. Instead of having to worry about the possible things which can go wrong if you were to use chemicals to relax you hairs you can just go natural and still achieve the same results peacefully.

The efficiency and safety of the natural kind of relaxers has been confirmed and that is why the techniques have been transferred from one generation to the other. The basic methods for relaxing the hairs naturally are two. The first one is the simplest but the next one produces a better outcome and does not generate much waste.

The first method uses a mixture of milk from coconut and lime. The solution is left to sit for a couple of hours until it foams. It is the foam which is scooped and applied on the mane. After sitting for some hours, it is washed off. The disadvantage of this method is that the foam may break down and run off and also the lime and coconut milk are required in large quantities.

A better method is involves addition of 1 or 2 spoons of cornstarch and olive oil to the lime-coconut milk mixture. These products are whipped together under minimal heat until the consistency gets to the level of the conditioners made commercially. This ensures that once it is applied on the hairs it will not run off like the mixture in the first method. Olive oil is for maintenance of good hydration levels of the hairs.

After the application process is complete, the hairs should be wrapped using a plastic mane cap for some hours. On removal, it has to be washed with a mane shampoo and moisturizing follows. The results are amazing and you can then style the hairs as you wish.
