All of the severe conditions that a person can suffer from always involve a major organ that the body needs to function properly. The lungs are the usual target of serious diseases. When this happens, the person can die instantly but there are also others who have survived but they need to have constant air supply for them to continue breathing.

Because of portable oxygen tank, it is easier for a person to go anywhere and do some of the things that normal people do. In some cases, they can make do without the tanks for a while but there are others who have made it a part of their system.

When choosing a device to supply air, you first need to determine whether you need the continuous flow or the pulse flow. Continuous flow of oxygen means that the device will continue to supply the lungs with oxygen regardless if you are inhaling or not. The pulse flow on the other hand, will only supply air when it is triggered by inhalation.

A pulse flow tank has a conserver inside it so that the oxygen is regulated. This way it is easier to conserve air and the supply can last 5 times more than those without conservers. But those who have more serious conditions need to be in the continuous flow when they are sleeping since there is a chance that the oxygen inhaled would not be enough due to shallow breaths when sleeping.

Those who have a portable tank can travel. But you have to be sure first if you are allowed. In some cases, their conditions are too serious for their physicians to allow them to travel. There are also things that you must not do even if you do have a portable tank

Having a portable tank with you can be a huge advantage when you want to travel. You should ask advice from the doctor first before you decide to go on a vacation because it might no be safe for you. If you are allowed to travel, you must not forget to bring important documents with you, that is documents other than your travel papers.

You need to secure a document for your portable tank. You can ask for a statement of purchase from where you brought it. To save you the hassle, you can use the receipt that you have.

Make a huge space for your documents as you will be bringing many. Do not forget to bring your personal Ids and contact numbers of people you can call during emergencies or when you need advice, like your doctor and your device provider. And a treatment plan in case there is a flare up during the travel.

Other things that would surely consume space other than your papers and your clothes are your medications. Be sure to have extra for each one. You never know if you will be delayed or not. Prior to traveling, ask for a written statement from your doctor so that you will be allowed to use your oxygen tank inside the plane.
