A majority of the products used by consumers to carry out their daily activities contain hazardous chemicals. A research that was conducted in the recent past shows that most of the diseases affecting millions of people in this century originate from the interaction with these chemicals. They are the leading causes of cancer and have become more dangerous than viruses and bacteria that were dreaded in the past. To counter this effect consumers are encouraged to ensure they buy non toxic products for use in these activities.

The modern way of life involves the use of products that are intended to make life much easier. They are used for household cleaning, personal care, pest control and baby care. Another area where these chemicals have caused a lot of harm is the cosmetic industry. This situation has been worsened by the large area covered by the human skin and its absorptive nature. The toxins contained in these items are usually absorbed and therefore enter into vital organs of the body resulting into devastating effects. Consumers watch groups have noticed these effects and are now involved in campaigns to create consumer awareness.

To reduce the risks associated with these chemicals consumers are encouraged to be careful when making purchases. Most individuals suffer from complications originating from the use of unsafe personal care products. These may be toothpastes, deodorants, lotions, bathing soaps and shampoos. The most recommended alternatives are homemade solutions and those items that contain organic ingredients.

Some of the features of unsafe items include additional scents and ingredients such as fillers, phosphates and chlorine. Chlorine which has been in use for a long time as a bleaching agent has been established to cause harm to the skin of the users. Most items used with chlorine contain ammonia and the combination of these two elements produces poisonous gases. Consumers are now turning to the use of cleaning agents made from vinegar and hydrogen peroxide.

Today, there are numerous safe alternatives that can be used for baby care and house hold pest control. These are useful to ensure no hazardous chemicals are introduced in the house. Young children are susceptible to infections and it is important to safeguard their health.

When we buy non toxic products the number of pollutants is significantly reduced leading to a safer environment. Switching to the use of natural items allows individuals to enjoy the purity provided by nature. Where possible, consumers are encouraged to reuse the safe items to reduce exposure to hazardous compounds.
