The Necessity Of West Virginia Drug Testing

By Sharron Cantu

There are some states that do not see the need to stop an addiction that has become rampant among its people especially the youth. The necessity of West Virginia drug testing is not seen as mandatory. There is no law that has been put in place to make it a must for the residents.

The medicines that are given to patients in hospitals to treat them are called drugs. They are given to help in relieving pain and help in recovery. But there are other drugs that people take that are not prescriptions by doctors. They take them for personal reason. Some take them to feel happy, some just to fit in with their friends, some to forget their problems and some take them to get attention.

Unlike in a state like west Virginia, where drug testing is not a requirement, some companies have a mandatory law that their employees have to be drug free before beginning to work for them and they are again tested annually or biannually to make sure they are clean. In West Virginia, the law of making the testing mandatory is yet to be passed.

People should not feel like their rights are being infringed on when the individuals are asked to take the test. It is like helping them take good care of their health and also helping them stay healthy. They become better employees with much better results in the company as they are always sober and able to work together and have a good relationship with their bosses. Having an addict as an employee can even be dangerous to the other workers as they are hard to work with.

While some employers have it as mandatory, some view it as a waste of time and money, not caring whether their workers are affected or not, as long as they work and if you do not work well according to what they want you get the sack. The health of the worker is not their problem. They feel it has no effectiveness at all, to the real drug addiction problem.

In some workplaces, they even have training programs where they educate their workers on the dangers of drugs and the benefits of the tests, making them understand that it is for their own good and for the betterment of their health in general.

It is therefore seen that when you educate a person on the benefits of drug testing, it is as well as educating the whole society as they educate each other, making it a progressive society with no risks of drug addiction.

So it should be made signed into law making mandatory for all people to be tested to improve the productivity of not only workplaces but the state in general because abusing drugs will reduce as no one who is an addict will be employed or allowed into any job opportunity by the government.
