Your wetsuit is an important part of your surfing or diving engagements. Ocean water could be icy even though it could be the hot part of the year. As such, a good wetsuit helps to keep you warm as you have fun with your underwater endeavours. To keep odours and bacteria away from your diving wear, rinsing the outer and inner layers with fresh water after each session works well. However, you need to use the recommended routine of how to clean a wetsuit to keep it in its optimum condition.

The underwater suits are made of a material called neoprene. This material has specific products that help maintain its condition while keeping it clean. In order to wash neoprene, a special shampoo sells at diving and surf stores. Other things needed to clean and maintain the suit material includes a wide hanger and zipper lubricant.

The process starts with the filling up of a bathtub with tepid water. The correct amount of wetsuit neoprene cleaning shampoo then goes into this. Common shampoos have recommendations of half an Oz of this shampoo in every gallon of water. The cleaner should however look up the instructions on the shampoo labeling to determine the right mix.

Next comes a gentle swish around of this particular suit in the water. This removes debris and sand from it. The cleaner should make sure the cleaning water reaches every part of inner suit also. The next step involves a thorough rinse using fresh lukewarm water. The cleaner must remember to rinse the inner parts of their suit as well. It is preferable that the shower jet is used for this.

Once you are through with rinsing, you then proceed to hung out the wet suit from your shower rod. Use one of the wide hangers for this. Hanging enables dripping off getting rid of most of the moisture. You should then hung the suit away from humidity and wetness in your bathroom, completing the drying off process. Make sure that as the suit dries up, you keep it away from sunlight. The reason is that direct sunlight on the suit causes wearing out prematurely.

The last stage involves opening up your suits zipper and squeezing zipper lubricant onto both its sides. You should concentrate on outer teeth of your suit. Close and then open your zipper a number of times, which ensures the oil gets into every bit of this zipper. Should you use your suit regularly, the recommendation is washing it at least two times per month.

We must never wash our wetsuits in any washing machine as we do our other clothing. Washing machines would cause severe damage to this suit. To keep away bad odours and disinfect it, we can use deodorant. When we are not using our wetsuit, we must hang it away rather than fold it with other clothing. Folding results in cracks and cracks consequently develop into tears. We must use beefy hangers and we ought to avoid hanging our suits with thin wire types of hangers. Such wire hangers dig into the material, which leads to cracks.

The good thing about cleaning wetsuits is that it is not complicated. Using these cleaning and maintenance routines ensures it serves its purpose for a long time.
